We will create a profile for [http://apps.sourceforge.net/trac/sourceforge/wiki/Hosted%20Apps|SourceForge.net Hosted Apps] Related profile: ((Software_Project)) So any software project on SourceForge.net will have an out-of-the-box, pre-configured TikiWiki with default installations to include SourceForge.net specific things. For example: *[http://alexandria.wiki.sourceforge.net/Project+Web%2C+Shell%2C+VHOST+and+Database+Services#logo|project logo] *[http://tikiwiki.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/tikiwiki/trunk/lib/wiki-plugins/wikiplugin_sf.php?view=markup|SourceForge plugin] *Including RSS feeds from the project (file releases, etc) This will avoid this complex procedure: http://doc.tikiwiki.org/SourceForge+Install This will be a TikiWiki farm, which will be presumably be running with ((doc:MultiTiki)) or ((dev:TRIM)). Users will presumably not have SSH/FTP to their Tiki. Only web access. Related tracker item: https://sourceforge.net/tracker2/?func=detail&aid=2198232&group_id=1&atid=350001 !!- On 2009-05-19, marclaporte was inquiring on #sourceforge [14:39] hinojosa: I had thought someone sent you something on this [14:40] hinojosa: let me poke around behind the curtains here... [14:40] hinojosa: a few minutes please. [14:41] marclaporte: We just released 3.0 :-) and are ready to proceed [14:42] burley-sf: what's the DB that tiki uses? [14:43] burley-sf: and what's it written in -- php? [14:43] marclaporte: php/mysql [14:43] burley-sf: is there a module/method for supporting HTTP basic auth? [14:44] marclaporte: yes [14:44] burley-sf: and some method of auto-creating users upon authenticated login? [14:44] marclaporte: not sure [14:44] burley-sf: should be trivial to add to the auth foo though [14:45] burley-sf: Sounds like it should be pretty painless for us -- but its gonna have to wait for a few other hosted app changes first [14:45] burley-sf: we're in the middle of integrating hosted apps into the site proper so auth is handled uniformly [14:45] burley-sf: once that's done I know we're discussing what HAs are next in line [14:46] burley-sf: I can raise Tiki at that time as well [14:50] marclaporte: Thanks. [14:51] marclaporte: My goal is to make an out-of-the-box SourceForge profile (a TikiWiki specially configured for SourceForge) which is a slight adaption of the more generic Software Project profile -> http://profiles.tikiwiki.org/SourceForge_Software_Project [14:55] burley-sf: that would be really neat [14:57] marclaporte: Is there anything for stats tracking? page hit counter in the Hosted Apps with does a bit like page hits on normal project pages? [15:01] marclaporte: in which case, we would put this web bug in this profile. So page hits on Tiki Hosted App would be counted properly without overhead for project [15:01] hinojosa: have you tried piwik? [15:01] marclaporte: a long time ago, when it had different name [15:01] hinojosa: we have that as a hosted app [15:01] hinojosa: from the implementation we have [15:01] hinojosa: you can use this for site projects [15:01] hinojosa: you should check it out [15:02] marclaporte: I will :-) [15:02] neoneurone has joined [15:04] burley-sf: Once the integration bit is done stats collection will be made simpler/better for hosted apps [15:08] marclaporte: are we looking at weeks away or months away? [15:18] burley-sf: I can't provide any sort of timeline and the only person who can is out of the office [15:18] burley-sf: I suggest you ping moorman [15:19] marclaporte: auto-creating users upon HTTP basic auth? (anything else I should prepare?) Do you have any docs/code/etc about a typical customization of a php/mysql app to become suitable for HA? (I'll start planning this aspect) [15:38] burley-sf: marclaporte: We haven't written anything up for the community yet -- I was hoping to write something up to do a presentation about it at OSCON -- but they rejected it [15:59] marclaporte: burley-sf: : sorry to hear that Later that day, marclaporte & moorman had an IRC chat. SourceForge is working on improving the framework for hosted apps integration. When this is ready, SourceForge will evaluate other apps, including Tiki. No specific time-frame so we just wait. [14:58] hinojosa: all: Wikispaces deprecation is set for tomorrow at 8 AM Pacific. [14:58] hinojosa: Site Status ( https://sourceforge.net/sitestatus ) [15:02] walshy007 has disconnected: Read error: 110 (Connection timed out) [15:43] marclaporte: hinojosa: hi! [15:44] hinojosa: marclaporte: Hello [15:44] marclaporte: how are you? [15:44] hinojosa: I'm well - thank you [15:44] hinojosa: and yourself? [15:45] marclaporte: excellent. I am in Europe for a 10-day Tiki coding sprint (we call them TikiFest) http://tikiwiki.org/Tikifest+Workspaces+and+Social+Networking [15:45] hinojosa: nice [15:45] hinojosa: looks like you are in France? [15:45] marclaporte: yes, off to Barcelona tomorrow [15:45] hinojosa: excellent [15:46] hinojosa: I hope the sprint goes well [15:46] marclaporte: tks [15:46] marclaporte: I am a little surprised with WikiSpace change. [15:46] hinojosa: really? [15:46] _Brandon_ has disconnected: "Leaving" [15:46] hinojosa: we posted this up on site status some time back [15:47] marclaporte: oh, not that way surprised [15:47] marclaporte: I must have read and forgot. But it is because all hosted app stuff is going to be more & more open source? [15:47] marclaporte: AFAIK, WikiSpaces is not OpenSource [15:48] hinojosa: we are moving towards using more facilites, as you note, in our hosted apps [15:48] hinojosa: at this time, we're deprecating Wikispaces for a number of reasons [15:48] hinojosa: we are offering folks migration paths to the existing hosted apps [15:48] danielf has joined [15:49] hinojosa: and if folks want and like Wikispaces [15:49] hinojosa: they can have that imported to Wikispaces as well [15:49] danielf: hi is someone can help me for intallins ajaxchat [15:49] marclaporte: yes, I read. Migrating wiki stuff is much more tricky that other types of apps. You guys must have been busy :-) [15:50] hinojosa: just a little... [15:50] hinojosa: danielf: Hi [15:50] danielf: hi hunojosa can you help me [15:50] hinojosa: danielf: are you looking to install that on your project web space? [15:51] danielf: yes i installed it but i have a problem i cannot login it always the same page coming back [15:51] hinojosa: have you read our Site Documentation, http://p.sf.net/sourceforge/index for project web, https://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/sourceforge/wiki/Project%20web ? [15:51] hinojosa: the key with such installations is that our web servers are read-only [15:52] danielf: not yet i go right now [15:52] hinojosa: hence, you need to make sure that files that need to be written are in the persistent directory [15:52] hinojosa: pay particular attention to that segment of the docs for this effort [15:52] hinojosa: I suspect this will help clear this up [15:53] danielf: ok but what i dont understant is taht i have do same thing on another sire and it work [15:53] marclaporte: hinojosa: so we are super-duper ready to have Tiki available as a hosted app. We'll even make a SourceForge.net profile (same codebase as usual but pre-configured to SourceForge-type projects) http://profiles.tikiwiki.org/SourceForge_Software_Project [15:54] hinojosa: ah-ha! [15:54] hinojosa: we've been waiting for that , right marc? [15:54] danielf has disconnected: "Page closed" [15:55] danielf has joined [15:55] danielf: sorry i chashed i am back [15:56] hinojosa: danielf: I'm not clear on your comment about doing this on another site [15:56] marclaporte: well, I think there were some structural improvements on SF framework [15:56] burley-sf: marclaporte: I don't remember but did jacob contact you relatively recently or am I thinking of someone else? [15:57] danielf: ok i have two site and on each i have smf [15:57] burley-sf: if not, all you are really waiting for at this point is for us to document the porting process essentially [15:57] danielf: on first i install ajaxchat and every this is good [15:57] danielf: on the second site i have done smae thing but in can going in the chat room [15:57] danielf: i always come back on login page [15:58] elmuerte: is it just me or is the 'Feature Settings' (under project admin) page really slow? [15:58] marclaporte: We spoke in May, and I don't recall recent contact from Jacob. [15:59] burley-sf: k -- I think he was going to, but he's not around to ask [15:59] burley-sf: I know we've discussed it [16:00] burley-sf: I suspect he'll be back in the office soon (today) -- if so I'll talk to him for 5 and get back to you [16:02] marclaporte: super. Well, it's a good time now because our 3.x version is nice & stable now. And if the doc is out, we could do at the TikiFest during next 10 days
